Puppeteer dreamers..... two new brooches.... these are both larger and intricate brooches....
When I first began to stitch figures, I found the confidence to draw with thread gradually, and composed faces and portraits that looked straight back at me... rather like photographs, the vintage photographs I collect (and you may collect also).... but as I have learned and improvised, so my confidence has slowly but surely allowed me to loosen up the figures a little so that they can look aside, aslant, dance a little, be here and elsewhere at the same time.... I like working small. I think that much you can see. It helps that I listen to music (all kinds, but especially Classical when I am working) and then I can let go a little and not be so in control.... I like the figures to develop in their own way and rarely will I make any marks on the fabric before starting to work.
I'm enjoying the colours and textures too. Most of the time my machine thinks it is dancing and painting. The word sewing doesn't really figure.....

cathy, i wish my art vocabulary was more extensive, but at least i can say that these are wonderful.
Great pieces, Cathy. Love the way you describe the process and the listening to music. Wish I could handle a sewingmachine. Maybe one day I will try it. For now I'm just needling my way through my thoughts.
Its amazing work, so small, love the way you describe how they came to be.
I especially like the one with the lace on the bottom of her dress and the white stockings. She really does have a feeling of movement to her.
Beautiful work - makes me want to join the dance!
