and so it continues....

'Our curious friend'.... one of two daily drawings that I have created today - now in my etsy shop....

And so the big freeze continues, the UK is covered with ice and snow.... Our road is a steep hill and snowed up, though neighbours have been out there clearing the snow and putting down the little grit we have.... I'm very pleased to say that I live within walking distance of both a post box and a small supermarket. All recent purchases from my shops have been posted, many thanks! We've stocked up with essentials and prepared for more snow this weekend!

I've been concerned about the birds surviving such a bitter chill... so have been putting out a range of foods (I'm now out of bird seed). Grated cheese, sultanas (thanks for the tip Carolyn!), also breakfast cereals and cooked rice are worth offering, so I'll do that. We've seen various blackbirds, tits, wagtails, doves, starlings, magpies and wrens....

female blackbird and a wagtail in motion...
Meanwhile, I've been busy working on new drawings and new designs for my shop..... this weekend I hope to continue work on some hand stitch projects and plan on watching several old black and white movies, whilst eating the last of the Christmas chocolate.....:)

Have a very good weekend.

I've been having a bird day myself - worrying about the poor things survival as suddenly they are so visible in all this snow! I put a plate of scraps out and watched all the blackbirds and robins for what seemed like hours!

Keep warm :))

I love that photograph of the birds! how good of you to be taking care of them- what extreme weather! We have been treated more gently here in Vancouver- But it is grey- very grey- in the end you just have to start loving it and finding its redeeming qualities- which are...-
keep warm,
Annamaria :)

HI Cathy warm greetings from Downunder. Love your snow photos. We are at the other end of the weather cycle with high temps for the next few days 42deg.+ so I have to make sure the bird baths are topped up so they have plenty to drink and bathe in. Loved your miniature books. utterly charming. Best wishes for a creative 2010. Claire X

Such an enjoyable post with many favourite things. Your family snowman is adorable and the birds too, of course. Hope they are enjoying their three course meals. I find some cereals go mushy too quickly and then the birds turn their beaks up at it! I was very interested to know they like grated cheese, we still haven't tried that yet, I used the last in a comforting macaroni cheese. The black and white films sound fun (I share that love too!) and the choccy of course, always a comfort!

Have a lovely Sunday
Keep warm and snuggly
Carolyn ♥
