Good Monday to you, and thanks for the artists and photographers featured here for sharing their work, via my Flickr contacts.....
I'm sat here in the warm listening to the drip-drip of water as icicles melt.... and birds call in the very slightly warmer morning.... It is still very snowy out there and we had a further small flurry last night. One child back at school today, one due back tomorrow, and chance of a thaw by the end of the week?
It's the 11th day of the new year already, but something I wanted to do and have yet to do is write a few predictions and dreams for the year ahead..... So here goes....
I'd really like to see lots of new work and new ideas flourishing in 2010.... a diversity of ideas out there, in the world of art and crafts.. An attention to detail and a thoughtfulness. Things not rushed, but considered, slow stitches and yes lightning improvisations... but all from the heart, original, personal dreaming.... Work that moves beyond the trends of today. Making of things and samples to experiment with an idea, and not just to make an end product. Follow your dreams and enjoy the process..... be yourself. I am writing this as a reminder to myself too..... be true to your own words, marks, lines, stitches, dreams, colours and songs....
I'm sometimes filled with doubt and hopelessness. I worry like mostly everyone about paying the bills, asking the right price for my work, making work that matters.... I am not always confident. I am not a fragile ice-petal. I am not a fool, all the time. My work is inspired by so many ideas and artists and dreams, but I try to make it my own. I ask that my work is respected. I am thin-skinned. I take things very personally..... this is all about being me and my work is mostly about it too. But I hope that you can see beyond the personal and relate to what I wish to share.... I hope this year I can work through some of my personal anxiety and let the happiness in, more and more.... See beyond the 'I' and share some special work....
Musings over for now! This week I am working on many new projects..... Books, stitches, the chairs are feeling neglected and need new layers, drawing daily, writing poem notes, perhaps a few new dye jars need to be started... but we shall see:)
Enjoy your week x

Cathy, Thank you! Both for including me in this amazing mosaic and articulating the challenge before us all, to find our individual voice.
thanks cathy, and to reiterate what holly stated above-articulating our challenges. a very thoughtful and meaniful way to begin a week...
Thank you for sharing so honestly and beautifully. I wish you all good things for the year ahead, still so full of possibility... and thank you for awakening these things in your readers too.
reading your about personal anxiety's makes me feel comforted about my own as an artist... i think we all share these feelings sometimes.
thank you for sharing your thoughts openly and for sharing your work and for mosaic monday, i look forward to it each monday.
Cathy, Glad I found your blog. i have been thinking about the EXACT same things for goals in the new year...Your work is so beautiful and inspiring.:)xo
Cathy - your work is too interesting and original for you to have so many doubts
Cathy,
An honor to be included in this Mosaic Monday, which has a very distinct January feel to it.
And yes, I remind myself every day as I teeter along to the workroom to remember to be fresh, original and aware. The joy is in the work and I always see it in yours.
xx

I look forward to your monday moasaics Cathy - this one, as usual, is wonderful and thank you for including my work - your 2010 ruminations are also wonderful - very hopeful :)
I love what you've written here. It's real. Even though I don't like "New Year's Resolutions," I have been lately feeling an urge to set some goals for the year. This posting is one more nudge to do so ... and, as you note, if you're going to do it, then better get to it! So, hopefully this week, I will post my thoughts and goals for 2010. If I have the nerve. It certainly is putting yourself out there, isn't it?
Also, thank you for including me in your lovely mosaic. :-)
Thank you for including me Cathy ~ very cool concept :)
