new artist books & shop update

I've been so very busy..... despite the snowy weather (we have a lot of snow out there right now!).... Making books has fascinated me, many years and many styles.....ever since I was at primary school and my friends and I made our very own photocopied comic, complete with crosswords.....

These artist books, concertina folding style, are a way for me to showcase my ideas, the obsessions that make my work, my work...... I combine stitch with monoprint drawing, paper from old novels, snippets of fabric etc....

Both these books are in my shop update today. I shall be launching quite soon.

I'm planning to create several other books, in the future. But for now I begin this year with the two here. I'm also including in my shop today several other mixed media pieces and six yesterdays dolls. I had suggested chairs might feature but they are time consuming and I want to take my time to make a few more. So they shall be in next month's update.

As we have a lot of snow, there may be a slight delay in packages arrival. I can walk to the post box on a main road, a short way from here, no problem. So long as the main roads stay connected, which they are, there should not be a problem.

I hope your week is going well, more soon x

Hello Cathy: Happy New Year to you - I am new to your blog and love it very much. I came by way of Jude's Spirit Cloth blog which I enjoy very much : ) Your natural dyeing of cloth has really intrigued me as I am just beginning to do my own natural dyeing of fabric and fiber, love, love, love it so far : ) I have little jars of pomagranet, blackberry juices and walnut crystals with pieces of fabric, string, ribbon, anything that will absorb color, that my DH just laughs about. just wanted to stop by and say hi and introduce myself. Ohh, I also make my own handmade books, which I truly love to make : ) I guess it's clear, I love all things color, handmade, either hand dyed or painted and stitched with love. I will return.
Blessings, Sandra in AZ

I just love handmade books. Each artist has her own way of making them. These handmade books represent the touch of the maker.
