Monday garden

Monday has just flown by.... it is evening already, I've been busy busy today.... yes the peas (growing in a crate by our back door) are doing their green thing so pleased... love sempervivum flowers, so starry...... a deep dahlia, actually deeper red than this photo....

This week I'm continuing to work on mixed media - you may have worked out already but July is my month of mixing media and especially using old books.... I like to have a focus each month. Last month it was stitched poetry and May was about the daily writing of poems (as well as making other things) I'm always drawing/painting alongside..... August, well I am still pondering the wonders of August, it's a month that asks to be a bit different, like a holiday.... I'm getting a few days away but won't be going on any long trips..... So August I have ideas.....

I'm also working on various publishing projects including my own book coming out of the 'here and there' project over at nevering......

I hope you have a very good creative week and more soon......

It is good to read that you have so many plans. The peas are look delicious, the taste of summer.

Good luck with your publishing work.

Have a relaxing holiday and I'll be back soon.

Do you ever get the urge to change your focus during your designated month? How do you manage to keep the motivation? I'm quite tempted by the idea - it might add some structure to my non existent working 'patterns'... Wonderful to hear about your process, thank you for sharing it :)

Hello and thanks for your comments ELizabeth and Stephie

good question about focus - I sometimes find myself pulled in another direction - then I'll set aside a few hours to 'play' with the ideas that might be distracting me to see if they are worth pursuing either as an alternative focus or for a future month... often then I find after I've attempted the distraction I will have got it out of my system, so to speak, in as much as I'll either have a small sample of something to hold on to for the future or the idea didn't evolve into much....

I find I really like to plan ahead, it helps me especially as I make more than one 'thing'. I am someone who needs to move through cycles and appreciates a broad range of media - I find if I don't have a focus I can spend a whole day flitting and not making, which is frustrating and eats up time... Working by myself I really need to know what my work table is going to be covered with for the next few days or more.... but if something is not working out I will shift focus, and I have done that several times.

I hope this helps! Perhaps I'll write a more detailed entry re: focus and planning, some time soon.

best wishes Cathy
