flower friday

auricula cuckoo fair

I am not so much a gardener as a small plant collector.... I like auriculas and have about twenty (or so)..... Due to snow and neglect during winter, I thought I had lost quite a few, but have been nursing them, little green folk in clay pots (the lucky ones get clay, some only plastic, it's the luck of what I can get my hands on....) Most of my small collection of auriculas have come back from near-death and thanks to the very warm weather are growing rapidly.... Here above is 'Cuckoo Fair' - one of my favourite purples....

auricula osborne green

This curiosity is 'Osborne Green' - one of the auriculas that have a certain green tinge and farina (that's a white dusting....)

Meanwhile in the one and only little border of our tiny garden..... aquilegia, a dark one.... just getting ready to bloom.... but due to the warm dry conditions I can see little white fly.... I have never had this problem before, but then we have not had such a long stretch of dry weather....

and this yellow.... is a weed or wild flower that found itself one of my pots and I let it carry on.... it is lovely, smells of sweet honey and I don't know it's name but when I can find my book of wildflowers and herbs I will tell you what it might be.....

I have also been painting flowers, but only in black, and they (the paintings) are for another day....

enjoy your weekend
