We are a quarter of the way through 2012 already, it's spring here (though a bit chilly today), it's also Easter Weekend.... time for a small giveaway. I'd like to say thanks to everyone who takes the time to visit my blog and also for lovely comments.
This small gouache sketch, a little portrait of vessels and feathery stems.... I'll be sending this one to someone soon. If you would like to have your name put in the hat then you have only until first thing Monday morning UK time to leave a comment.
So to enter: please say hello - and also, just to make this a little more interesting, please could you tell me what is your favourite 'painted subject' - eg. have you got a thing for chairs, do you prefer still lives, perhaps your walls breed birds, or are you a head collector?? Or do you prefer abstract artworks?
I'll have my adjudicators on stand-by, and will announce the winner of the sketch on Monday.
Anyone worldwide is invited to leave a comment, even if you are new to my blog. If for any reason you cannot leave a comment here then you are welcome to email me to enter: ccullis at g mail dot com
This is a long holiday weekend here in the UK. I'm spending some time with family, but also working on with lots of new new new for my shop update which will be next week on Thursday.
Enjoy your weekend x

First of all, thank YOU for everything that you share, Cathy, you are such an inspiration to so many of us !
Secondly, thank you for the giveaway too ! I'm adding my name to the hat !
Lastly, my favorite painted subject ... you introduced me to abstract art (yes you did & I won't thank you enough for that), so I'll say that I have a thing for abstract art.
oxoxo
Gimme, Gimme! Oops - I meant to say: What a lovely little painting and how delighted I would be if I were the lucky recipient. :-)
I don't know about particular subjects. I'm more inclined to like particular artists. But, thinking on it a bit, I suppose I am a fool for birds .... but so many other things, too! I've never been any good at choosing a "favorite" in any category - except ice cream, which is always chocolate. xo
Hello!
I'm fairly new to all this.:) I adore your work, I find it very inspiring...
I love to paint the female form the most, I've tried to change my subjects but I'm always drawn back. I could draw faces all day....:)
oh oh oh!!!!! so lovely!!!!! :D
and of course... CATS! cats, cats always cats! .D
love you work always (you know that!) :D
happy weekend! <3
love all your work, including this little gem.
At the moment I would say that my favorite painted subject is abstract or patterns. But since art is such an adventure, that could change at a moments notice. Thank you for all the inspiration that you share here. This is one of my favorite places to visit!
Hi Cathy,
I love your drawing! My favorite subject to see and/or paint is birds and eggs. I love the symbolism of flying free and of starting new, and also love hearing birds sing (I miss their songs during the winter and it's a wonderful sound come spring time).
Happy Easter to you,
Tami
Hi there, Cathy, lóve to see you stitching again !
The spring sisters were so lovely, and the Shakespeare Sisters are stunning with the strong coloured dresses. Those tiny heads !!!!! I always get shaky hands after some time stitching accurately like that !
I follow your blog and enjoy your work very much. Own a doll I cherish. Love the Monday inspiration. Thank you. Now my favorite item drawn is probably figurative as in ladies in costume or dresses. Fairy tale almost. Childlike.
Hi Cathy, thank you for your artwork, and the chance to win one of your pieces!! Looking around my walls I see abstract beach scenes, old buildings, and my Dad's gum trees, but by far the most popular subject, one that I am drawn to every time, is the human form. Enjoy your Easter!

Cathy, a lovely example of your work I like best to sketch houses. Not that I do it very well.
Hi Cathy,
I love your little sketch and would like to have my name put into the hat please!
Portraits are my favourite type of painting.
Have a good rest of the weekend!
Hi Cathy, please add my name to the hat!
My favourite painted subject is faces - either my themselves or hidden in inanimate objects :)
I love all that you create Cathy. I like to draw/paint faces, botanicals, birds and recently chairs have been calling to me.
Thanks for sharing, your work is very inspirational.

Hi Cathy!! Please toss my name in to the hat. I hope you are enjoying your lovely weekend. It's 7:57 p.m. Friday evening here, so it's morning where you live on this planet (you are probably in dream land right now) and later when you have your breakfast and plan your day I hope it is swell all around!! Well I am seriously stuck on birds but gosh I want to do faces and buildings and trees and sky in my artwork. I want to do pencil and charcoal sketches of nothing but clouds. I want to paint watercolor houses with trees filled with flowers like Alice in Wonderland trees. There is just so many ideas to do hey? Later, I am going to try to paint an acrylic buddha. Yes I know it is easter weekend, the most important weekend for celebrating the christian faith but gosh when the muse calls it is not for me to question...talk soon, *hugs* Norma
Hi Cathy, please toss my name in your hat! Bunnies and birds are two of my favourites, although I hate to have to choose! Have a wonderful family weekend.
Hello !
I'm adding my name to the hat ! I follow your blog since severals months now, but i never put any comments since then because of my poor english :) (I'm french)
I love your work particurlarly Shakespeare's sisters but abstract work is so good too !
Hi Cathy, thanks for adding my name to the hat!
My favourites: creatures.

Oh such lovely painting! Please add my name too:) I cannot believe it's 1/4 of the year already.....
My favourite painted subject has been woman and her inner space for a long time now. Recent years A woman with a child.
When I see your paintings or stitched works on the same subject, they really really speak to me :) Thank you so much for sharing your inspiring work! Happy long week end to you.
Hi Cathy, this is so exciting. I love all that you create. Lately really loving your bunnies, also love your chairs, ladies, still life's ,etc....Happy Spring!
Hi, Cathy! I would love for you to add my name to the hat. Chairs, I love chairs. And, in my own work, I tend to use a lot of architectural elements. But chairs, definitely, have had an appeal for me since grad school. Happy Easter/Passover!
Happy Easter weekend Cathy. All your work speaks to me and just about the time something could be a favorite you
Put something new in and voila that becomes a favorite. I love it all. Thank you for sharing.
oooh!! yummy...
you may already know, i have a weakness for figurative, or portrait, pictures...
wishing you a truly blessed easter, cathy :) xx
What a dream it would be to own yet another original work of art from you! I'm drawn to landscapes and big open spaces....but then I find myself constantly doodling too....simple line illustrations of irregular shapes and odd numbers...never an even amount. I think you get what I'm saying here. I'm a HUGE fan of your work. Thank you Cathy! Cheers, Mandy
you know how much i love your creations, "Story" sits here with me every day. i have a weakness for anything blue- the sea, sky, birds, etc.
Would love to have my name added to the hat

I like people in paintings, I like to make up my own stories about their character and the lives they have lived. Please include me in your draw.

Maybe it's too late to play, anyway, I love your chairs with a face on it, I'm always interested by portraits.
