waiting for a title

untitled
I have been working on three larger stitched pieces over the past several days - and this is the smaller of the three - I think I would call this a medium-sized work, and measures 10.5 x 9cm. It is densely detailed and has a lovely texture. This is not yet titled, I have some ideas - often a title comes about as I work, but this one has kept me thinking a bit..... perhaps getting ready for the party with their little chairs, the main figure holds a doll, the echoes of figures and faces suggest memories, history, pictures of the past converging.... 'waiting for the party to begin' perhaps..... or dreaming of the beginning and the past.....

my first thought was 'playing house'- a favourite of my daughter's when she was small - her friends gathered their dolls and set up for tea/a party/watching TV/going to bed...

I like that Claire, yes that is what my children used to do too when younger. Also, I have memories of playing house with my younger sister - we lived with our granny and we would re-arrange her living room and make little shops with tins from the kitchen.....

when i first arrived i "read" your title as "Waiting For a Little".

before i realized you wrote "waiting for a title" i thought you had given this piece a provocative name full of longing and promise. the women, with little chairs and dolls...waiting, hoping. all the swirling dark embroidered children "souls" ...waiting behind them so much closer than the three central figures could begin to imagine.

it is a lovely piece.

thank you

Rebecca - I like your descriptive words they are quite lovely. There is a feeling of waiting and anticipation in this piece, I think yes.

As you know I really like your work . I would like to ask you about your work processes.
Do you have daily routines of work? Are you very methodical with them? Do you have a weekly (or monthly...) plan of work?
Do you share the work on your artistic creations with some other job?
Personally I work in art-workshps for three days a week. I use to shave enough trouble organizing my own artwork...
I send you a big hug

Thank you for your comments Helena, sorry it has taken me a few days to reply.

Making art is my main job - I work part-time as I have two school age children, a girl and a boy. My son is disabled and needs some extra support, so I work part-time and am able to look after my children and run our home etc.... I have to be very organised to get everything done. I work school hours and try to plan the week ahead. It helps me to set themes for months or weeks at a time, and to move from working on stitch to painting, to different media, so that I never get 'stuck'. I would like to perhaps teach in the future when my children are grown up,

best wishes and hugs
