grandmother

grandmother
 grandmother - watercolour & gouache

here's another recent painting - a selection of new original work (no prints, the originals) will be in my shop next Tuesday - along with some new embroidery works......

grandmother - is more an archetypal portrait, not an exact representation of..... I'm interested in exploring older women in my work. I think you may see them in past and future, in my embroidery and paintings/sketches. Older women can be beautiful in their energy, stories and knowledge - with their flaws, graces and memories....

I had to come back to this beautiful post - I came across a picture by Rembrandt which I thought you might like http://pinterest.com/pin/212021094927831416/ - I love her energy!

I also came across some pictures of a theatre production that Su Blackwell was involved with, I think you'll like the last picture, so many different thoughts & feelings seem to flit around her.. http://www.sublackwell.co.uk/2011/12/16/set-design-for-the-snow-queen-at-the-rose-theatre-in-kingston/

Take care x Claira
