 Curio - here you see both sides of the artwork - now and then I decide not to add a backing to an embroidery, if the back is especially interesting or indeed an alternate view. The colours are favourites I return to, that teal blue-green and red. A whimsical piece.

 

icon dreamers - that blue-green but a different mood here - I am fascinated by religious historical art, of many kinds, particularly the use of gold in early icon painting. Here I have added a gold-coloured thread background to my own dreaming figures. Rather than attempting to imitate early icon portraits I'm more interested in 'collaging' ideas and themes. This is quite a small piece, made to contemplate and enjoy a richness. I used thick gold thread and it was quite tricky to sew with, but patience paid off, I feel....
