new work IV

Nanna (both sides)

Nanna - a smaller embroidery artwork.

I have decided this one is another piece to not have a backing - I like the reverse image, the mystery of it. The pale yellow background really sings. I don't often give my pieces name-names, but this figure told me her name was Nanna and she seems to know best:)

Just sharing this one today. Tomorrow is my shop update and I hope you have enjoyed seeing the previews this week. Thanks for all your encouraging comments, it's good to hear from you.
Embroidery artworks that have not been seen just yet will be in the shop too. This is a special update sharing work I have created over the past several weeks. I'm happily convinced that I really do not have ultimate control over who or what I stitch - and go with the flow nowadays. That is the main reason why I cannot undertake exact commissions and I do not repeat designs exactly.

Now for a complete change of stitch - I'm going to spend some time this evening making doll clothes for my niece.

Really lovely seeing front and back sides of the work next to each other...! How is the buyer going to display this beautiful work when the back side is just so magical and as good (if not more beautiful)!?

Hello Erin, I know of several collectors who display my embroidery artworks in glass display cabinets. They like to make arrangements that can be changed about every so often. I'm currently on the look out for a jeweller's type display case, that sits on a table top and has a glass door. Also box frames are good, especially the kind that are easy to re-open. The embroidery need not be permanently fixed to a backing board - a little rolled up masking tape will be enough to fix it in place and won't leave a mark. Then it is quite easy to turn around. Also, simply propping on a shelf works too. Hope this helps, thanks & best wishes Cathy.

I see! A jeweller's type display case would be wonderful! Thank you.

It'd also be nice to have it somehow standing like a free standing sculpture inside a glass bell jar. (so both sides can be seen at the same time) :)
