acorns

acorns
acorns, various.... today's theme seems to be acorns. Earlier I posted new poem notes over at nevering: 'green acorns'. And I've been working out how to knit an acorn. A different look to each. Just as they are all slightly different.... I like the yarn to knit with, it is Jamieson's Shetland spindrift.

The acorns in our neighbourhood are greenish and mostly battered looking. It's not been a great year for fruitfulness - as far as trees and shrubs have faired. My sister tells me they have not one single apple on their apple tree and this is the same elsewhere. Not a single grape on the grapevine that grows into our garden. It's been very rainy today and we have had the great ceremony of switching the heating on (which is not much really, just a flick of a switch and a small prayer).

Your green acorns are a delight! We haven't turned on the heat yet. It's still quite warm here. It certainly marks the change in seasons.

These nubbly little acorns are perfect.

I like your description of 'SWITCHING THE HEATING ON' We had a similar ritual...our boiler limped through last winter, but was surprisingly obliging.
