season of memories - a new embroidery artwork
a very, very detailed piece (I know I am often emphasizing the detail, but really this is intricate especially).... interesting to note there is not one black stitch in this. Not that I am trying to avoid black (I love using black thread, as well as red, blue, brown, ivory, just about any colour really....though I tend toward the gentle and natural). My starting point was the main figure and I stitched her using a lovely sepia thread, to really give the feel of an old photograph or portrait. Her little man is also in brown thread and her jacket/bodice is in very dark brown. The backdrop - the tiny dreaming faces and stalks/vines are in a deep grey and they are filled with a silky viscose grey thread.
I imagined she was standing in a room with ornate Victorian wallpaper. But perhaps you may imagine her in a garden with seed-heads or late season flowers.... As always I prefer to leave the story for you to decide....
this special piece will be in my shop tomorrow, along with other stitched works and new paintings - oh and new stitched poetry pieces too....
